Bean-to-cup coffee machine on Black Friday 2026: should you wait?

Two French studies look like they contradict each other. Both are right. franceinfo tracked roughly 65,000 listings around Black Friday 2023 and found a real average drop of 0.5% to 3%. Idealo's study from 21 November 2025 found 38 of 50 tracked categories at their lowest price of the year on the day itself. Neither study publishes a figure for bean-to-cup machines, which is more honest than inventing a percentage.

An advertised discount can't sit on any reference price the seller fancies. Across the EU it must be the lowest charged in the previous 30 days, a rule the French authority DGCCRF repeats every year, and one that also covers back-to-back promotions (cabinet Lacour). UFC-Que Choisir has nonetheless documented reference prices raised in the preceding weeks: the letter of the rule survives, the spirit rather less. 60.5% of French shoppers already suspect it, 90.5% shop the day anyway.

Your own check: note today's price, compare it to the price on the 27th. If it's crept up in between, the discount is partly manufactured, and that applies to any bean-to-cup coffee machine you've been tracking before Black Friday.

Wait if your bean-to-cup coffee machine has two more months in it, or if the model you want is at least a year old. Don't wait if your machine has already died, or if you've found a price you're happy with. A discount doesn't improve a machine. On a bean-to-cup machine the cup is decided by the grinder, not by the number of drink presets: those "15 bar" and "19 bar" figures are pump peaks, espresso extracts at around 9 bar at the puck.

Worth checking before the price: grinder noise, hopper capacity (a 150g hopper needs refilling every other day), and what's left to clean by hand.

Waiting until 27 November makes sense if you can wait. Not because the discounts are huge, they aren't in this category, but because it's the one week when the most models are on offer at once. Miss it and the January sales, plus May to September, are reasonable fallbacks.

And if what you want is the best bean-to-cup coffee machine 2026 has to offer rather than a one-off bargain, the burrs matter far more than the calendar. The percentage on the label has never made better coffee.
