IFA Berlin 2026: what to expect on the coffee machine side
Updated 12/08/2026
Two coffee brands are already listed in the IFA Berlin 2026 exhibitor catalogue. JURA, no surprise there. And KAXFREE, a KALERM group brand almost nobody outside the trade has heard of.
That's the whole confirmed list right now. The rest of this piece keeps facts and expectations in separate boxes on purpose, because most pre-show write-ups blend the two and the reader can't tell which is which.
The show runs 4 to 8 September 2026 at Messe Berlin. The official IFA site lists more than 1,900 exhibiting brands from 49 countries for this 102nd edition.
When and where the show happens
IFA Berlin 2026 runs its five days at one venue: Messe Berlin, Friday 4 to Tuesday 8 September 2026. Trade days come first, private visitors later in the run.
The IFA Berlin trade show usually draws something like 220,000 visitors, roughly 40,000 of them for the Smart Home Hall alone, going by figures one confirmed exhibitor quotes. Worth checking where that comes from: it isn't IFA's own statistics page, which serves no readable counter at all. Treat it as an expected order of magnitude, not an official number.
One confusion comes back every year. IFA is not the European CES. CES happens in Las Vegas in January; IFA has been the launch stage for European home-appliance brands for decades. For coffee, IFA is the one that matters.
Already confirmed for IFA Berlin 2026
Here are the two coffee exhibitors confirmed in the official catalogue so far:
JURA: hall 2.1, booth H2.1-103, with the fifth-generation E8
KAXFREE: hall 8.1, booth H8.1-224, with the SF1 Max
JURA and the fifth-generation E8
JURA exhibits in hall 2.1, booth H2.1-103, with the fifth generation of its E8 machine. The manufacturer sheet claims three brew modes (Classic Hot Brew, Light Brew at around 60 °C, Sweet Foam), an in-house Light Extraction Process, scheduling through the Coffee Timer app, and a Quality Assistant feature meant to extend the machine's working life. Those are manufacturer figures, not independently measured.
The one dimension JURA pushes hardest: 27 cm wide. A bean-to-cup machine built for a small kitchen, not a café counter.
KAXFREE and the SF1 Max
Less famous, more interesting on paper. KAXFREE takes hall 8.1, booth H8.1-224. It's a brand under KALERM, with sixteen years of commercial machine manufacturing behind it. The SF1 Max claims hot and cold foam, several automatic cleaning cycles, a smart interactive system, and over-the-air software updates.
OTA updates on a coffee machine are still rare in the consumer market. It also means the machine can change behaviour after you've bought it, and that cuts both ways.
What to watch, honestly unconfirmed
Nothing below is confirmed for IFA. These are trends, each with a source.
Voice control and AI
Bosch launched the first globally available espresso machine running Amazon's Alexa+ natural-language AI at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. CES, not IFA. That distinction matters. But when a group the size of BSH ships that in January, seeing variants in Berlin by September looks likely rather than far-fetched. Néomag noted about the previous edition that embedded AI in appliances is turning conversational.
A connected machine still doesn't pull a better shot, though. It pulls the same shot from your sofa. The Siemens EQ900, driven by the Home Connect app, has been on sale for years and shows exactly where that ceiling sits.

App control, which is hardly new
This smart espresso machine, the Melitta Barista TS Smart, has been adjustable from a phone since 2018. User profiles, saved recipes, all of it already exists and sells for around €889 on Amazon.fr, checked 12/08/2026. If IFA 2026 serves connectivity back to us as a breakthrough, keep that reference point handy.

Chinese manufacturers pushing harder
Same source, different observation: Néomag tracked aggressive expansion from Haier, Midea and Dreame across every appliance category. KAXFREE, a Chinese commercial manufacturer's consumer brand showing in Berlin, fits that pattern precisely. Probably the most concrete trend of this edition, and the least talked about.
Should you wait until September to buy?
Probably not, unless waiting is its own reward. Site des Marques points out that real advances shown at a trade fair reach shops six to twelve months later, and that 2026 runs on a single theme: everything becomes "intelligent".
And "intelligent" almost never touches what decides the cup. Grind, temperature stability, extraction pressure around 9 bar. None of that improves through an app update. A bean-to-cup machine is only as good as its grinder. If your budget is ready now, buy now.
After the show
This IFA Berlin 2026 piece gets updated in early September with what actually appeared in Berlin. Verifiable announcements, not press releases.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is IFA Berlin 2026?
4 to 8 September 2026, at Messe Berlin. It's the 102nd edition of the show, with more than 1,900 exhibiting brands from 49 countries according to the organiser.
Which coffee machine brands will be there?
Two coffee exhibitors are confirmed in the official catalogue so far: JURA in hall 2.1 with the fifth-generation E8, and KAXFREE in hall 8.1 with the SF1 Max. More may be added before September.
Is IFA open to the public?
Yes. The show opens with trade-only days, then lets private visitors in towards the end of the week.
Will the machines shown be on sale immediately?
Rarely. The usual gap between a trade-show reveal and shop availability runs six to twelve months, sometimes longer for premium models.
Does a connected coffee machine make better espresso?
No. Connectivity changes convenience, not extraction. What decides the cup is still the grind, the dose, and stable pressure around 9 bar.
